Tender Vs Eastenders in Google.co.uk (Chameleon Search)

In recent weeks I’m sure you’ll have seen Chameleon Search in the SERPs and generally you’ll have found it useful. That said recently I’ve found a strange little thing going on with the keyword ‘tenders‘.

The Result set asks me if I meant to search for “EastEnders”!!!

This seems completely off the wall and strange but I guess thats what you get when Google try and run some automation on language analysis. You get mistakes. Maybe its a stange UK thing (like “search engine optimisation” and “search engine optimization“) and we’ll have to get used to it.

My main thought is that there seems to be no feedback loop on this. How do you say that as an average human being you feel that “tenders” is in no way related to “eastenders”?

Cheers to Andy for the heads up and good luck with optimising the word tenders – only an extra three places to go for that site you’re working on.

Yeh, thanks a bunch for lumbering me with trying to break this unfathomably irritating ‘mid-page suggestion’. I can’t believe that this is still holding on after almost four months(?), it’s just so far removed from being helpful that its almost funny. I mean who the hell cares about Eastenders these days anyway – unless we are truly underestimating the power of the Soap Opera. I only hope that i never have to try and optimise any of the following:

- ‘oaks’ ‘did you mean Hollyoaks?’
- ‘home’ ‘did you mean Home and Away?’
- ‘coronation’ ‘did you mean Coronation Street’
- ‘electricity bill’ ‘did you mean The Bill?’
- ‘bianca’ ‘did you mean Ricky and Bianca?’
- ‘kylie’ ‘did you mean Kylie and Jason?’
- ‘disasterous’ ‘did you mean Eldorado?’
- ‘numpty’ ‘did you mean Ross Kemp?’

(sorry, but if you can’t laugh etc)

SORT IT OUT GOOGLE, and while you’re at it, hurry up and get our UK result set fixed – its been a shambles for weeks. I running out of patience, it’s Bing for me ………………ok, maybe not :/
